REBECCA NORRIS CO-FOUNDER
COACH | CONSULTANT | BARRISTER
Wild at heart. Passionate about all things nature and animal-related. I live in Scotland with my family where I enjoy growing vegetables.
My training
I am a certified body-oriented coach through The Somatic School, accredited by the International Coaching Federation. I am also certified in integrative somatic trauma therapy via The Embody Lab, having studied with world-leading trauma experts such as Dr. Peter Levine & Dr. Pat Ogden. My coaching practice prioritises safety, empowerment and partnership. For more information about my coaching practice please click here.
I hold a first-class law degree from Corpus Christi College, University of Cambridge, where I was awarded both choral and academic scholarships. I also attended Harvard Business School Executive Education Programme, which included several MBA modules. Following completion of my vocational training at The City Law School, I was called to the Bar in 2010 at Gray’s Inn, receiving two academic scholarships. I am also a qualified mediator with The Society of Mediators and am committed to trauma-informed conflict resolution.
My legal work
With over 14 years of London-based legal experience, I began my career in general crime before moving into commercial litigation and ultimately specialising in business crime, investigations, and contentious regulation. I have worked at the self-employed Bar, in leading international legal firms and global investment banks, representing high-profile international corporate institutions in leading litigation and contentious regulatory investigations. My diverse experiences, from supporting vulnerable adults in the prison system to advising board-level executives, allowed me to observe the profound impact of pressure, overwhelm, and trauma on individuals at all levels, both personally and professionally.
My career started in acute trauma settings, working with incarcerated individuals in the UK and Jamaica. This deepened my understanding of the mind-body connection and the neuro-biological impact of trauma. It also led me to co-found a project (now charity) delivering sports-based mentoring in UK prisons to address violent behaviour. My own experiences of trauma, and living with trauma-affected rescue animals, has further shaped my understanding of whole-system trauma responses and the critical role of non-verbal communication.
My experience working with trauma & distress
Through my legal work, I’ve seen firsthand the crucial role that empathy and a deep understanding of trauma play in maintaining the safety and integrity of our legal system. The sum of my experiences, and a realisation that this type of support is not readily available within the legal world, inspired me to develop bespoke training and support for trauma-informed legal practice.
I specialise in training and supporting individuals and teams navigating trauma, distress, and overwhelm, particularly in legal and high-pressure work environments. My experience includes:
Providing trauma-informed witness support for high profile litigation and investigations
Developing trauma-informed approaches to legal practice
Training legal teams on trauma-informed witness handling and support
Managing sensitive workplace investigations
Addressing domestic abuse in corporate settings
Creating resources for managing stress, overwhelm, and burnout within the legal system
Providing one-to-one coaching for those dealing with complex trauma in personal and professional contexts
